Keegan was born in Stockport to Michael Keegan and Jacqueline Keegan (née Turner), and her parents split when she was 13, when she went to live with her mother and stepfather.
She attended St Patrick's RC High School and the Manchester School of Acting and was turned down for a part in Hollyoaks. Keegan worked at Selfridges in the Trafford Centre shopping mall and as a check-in agent at Manchester Airport. She also had a small cameo appearance in Red Dwarf: Back to Earth.
On 14 June 2009 Michelle made her radio debut co-hosting the BBC Radio 1 programme The Official Chart with Reggie Yates.
Michelle was on the cover of FHM Magazine in January 2011 and was voted #30 in the FHM 100 Sexiest Women poll in 2010. Michelle has a brother called Andrew
